Bob,
Frankly I was surprised that Mel Karmazin hired Brucie so fast after the sudden "death" of CBS-FM.
While Brucie is a an excellent radio personality, he is a New York jock not well-known (if known at all) outside the New York market. Seems to me that Mel always liked Brucie and just wanted to have him on board to attract the dis-enfranchised CBS-FM listners. A good move, I must say. But, for me personally, it's not enough to get me to subscribe to Sirius (and pay to listen to the radio).
I do, indeed, think that you, Bob Shannon, would be a good fit on Sirius, but remember now Sirius is national radio, not New York radio. For those who wish to re-create CBS-FM on Sirius I think they are simply fooling themselves. CBS-FM was New York and therein special.
I'll stick with listening to XM free on AOL!
Nonetheless, Bob, I know that you will land a job on another station because you are talented and would be an asset anywhere you went. Trouble is the business is not what it used to be, and I'm sure you are aware of that.
I hope Jack-FM is a huge failure. Why not? There is nobody on the air there. It's the sales department, board ops, and a few others over there. The philosophy of running Jack-FM is one initated by small market mom and pop stations years ago. Hard to believe that attitude has crept into the world's largest radio market, New York.
