Again, at 28, I am a member of this "demographic" that the advertisers seem to be seeking. I would love to have CBS come back to what it was in its glory days. I love classic rock and roll, but I think music is best enjoyed when varied.

I believe that New Yorkers are sophisticated enough to enjoy Ella Fitzgerald, Les Paul, and Buddy Holly all in the same hour. Furthermore, I think that younger listeners would smile to hear an 80s song like "Glory Days" or "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" once in a while too.

Many people in my age group view the songs of the past with more respect than people give us credit for. Most of my friends own a least one Sinatra type record and will enthusiastically sing along with these songs when played at restaurants or bars, at Shea Stadium, or any other local. Not to mention, this music is much more effective at creating moods and expressing thoughts than the most of the music of today.

It is unthinkable to think that a city like NY lacks an outlet for any of the great music from the past, especially as so much of this music evolved out of NY. Like it or not, the music of the past century largely defines American culture, as can be seen by the types of songs that are choosen by Hollywood and by commercial makers.

I have said this a thousand times, and I'll say it again. Creating this sort of station depends on depends upon hiring talent that can organize the play lists and bring all of this great music together.

Maybe if we keep saying it, someone will listen. Knowledgable, enteraining personalities will always be needed to make radio fly. Even Sirius and XM recognize this and have made efforts in these areas, despite limited budgets.
