Paragon Media Strategies has released an extensive study of the Spring Arbitron results for Jack-formatted FM stations and estimates that, for adults 25-54, the format delivers an average quarter-hour share of 4.2 (Mon-Sun, 6 a.m.-12 midnight) and has an average time spent listening of six hours.

That 4.2 AQH share translates to a rank of eighth place in the average market where the format exists, according to Paragon’s analysis.

“Jack has the largest 25-44 audience composition of all formats in the Spring Book,” the Paragon study says, noting that “54% of Jack listeners are male, 46% are female.”

Fully 65% of the format’s demo is aged 25-44, according to the Paragon analysis; with a bit more than half of that category, 37%, falling in the older 35-44 cells and 28% in the younger 25-34 cells.

The Jack format shares the most with listeners who also tune into AC (41%) and classic rock (34%). Listening is also shared with country (30%) and news/talk/sports (30%).

The triple-A format had the lowest listener sharing, according to Paragon, with Jack listeners and triple-A sharing 19%.
