I strongly disagree with your comments regarding CBS-FM and Mike Smith's March 2003 show at BB King's. The station was very involved, beginning with stories months before the show took place. In the fall of 2002, Mike gave me the first telephone interview any American radio reporter had with him to announce his decision to return to performing. The night before the BB Kings show, Mike visited us at CBS-FM, including an hour guesting in the studio on Cousin Brucie's Saturday night show. It was magical as Mike and Bruce shared stories of their times together in New York during the '60s.
So, CBS-FM's airstaff, including myself, Dan Ingram (whom Mike renewed acquaintances with when he visited us at 1515 Broadway) and Bruce were all very supportive of Mike Smith's return and talked up him and the DC-5's music all through that weekend.
