So let's indulge that fantasy a bit...with the
"YOU DESIGN YOUR OWN CBS-FM" game!
Let's play like this:
It's next Spring. Jack has gone through the Fall ratings book, has tanked, and the company decides to pull the plug. Imagine the Jack voice slowing down and fading out, like Hal in 2001.
The company admits publicly they made a big mistake, but now, they will make up for it by giving New York its Oldies Station back...
OK--what would you want to hear? Be specific: what djs, what time slots for them, what features, what weekends, news, slogans, traffic--the whole station is YOURS TO DESIGN...especially: WHAT MUSIC? Time frame of music ('50s, '60s etc.), even rotation per centages if you're a real armchair programmer (like me!).
Assume for the game:
1) Cousin Brucie and Norm N. Nite are NOT available since they're contracted to Sirius.
2) Mike Fitzgerald, Mike McCann, Randy Davis and Jeff Allen ARE available since they're working only part-time at other stations.
3) Probably not Mr. G since he's now at Mix 102--but maybe the company'd let him do both stations?
4) Not sure about Karen Stewart's deal at CBS-AM ...so let's leave her out for now.
5) Micky Dolenz IS available
Let's see what you come up with...and, please, let's hear from some of you who have been silent for awhile on the Board! If you're having password problems getting on, E-MAIL ME your post to
bob@bobshannon.com and I'll post it under your name.
Also, those of you who are "lurkers"--you read the Board but never post--get involved! If you don't have a password, e-mail me and I'll post for you under any anonymou name you like (and protect your anonymity by never revealing to anyone who you are).
Let the game begin....
