I enjoyed Bob Shannon's Post about a dream coming true; Jack failing and WCBS-FM returning to oldies. While its pretty obvious the former will occur, there is no evidence the latter will happen. I think Infinity is bent on destroying oldies in NY and has no regard for its listeners or anyone over the age of 45. So my question is why raise false hopes? All of the posts to the "return to oldies" were great--they show how much we love Bob Shannon, Bobby Jay, Harry Harrison, etc. and love the music too but again it was personally painful for me to read something that I wish for but will not likely happen (I hope I am wrong). I considered what happened on June 3 to be a tragedy and I have often asked myself why I didn't listen to WCBS-FM more intently rather than passively so I could savor what I liked so much about the station. Prior to June 3, I listened to oldies but also listened to jazz, r & b, dance and classic rock but because of what happened, in recent months I have listened almost exclusively to music from the 50's and 60's really to make a statement that I connect on an emotional level with the music and connect with the people posting to this board about how much we miss WCBS-FM. The most exciting times for me in my childhood were the Beatles arriving in the US and the whole British invasion, dancing to great Motown classics at high school dances, the summer of love, and Woodstock. So I am still feeling sad and hurt but it always a cathartic release to post to this board because most people here can understand what I am saying and share the same hopes. So lets keep working to prove Infinity wrong or maybe enlighten another radio corporation and maybe, just maybe with a little 'mazel' our dreams will come true.
