"Anyway, that might be what a sizeable chunk of today's oldies audience wants to hear"
Yes, Oldies radio as we know it plays hit pop product not AOR material. For that there are Classic Rock stations. I'm of the WABC/WMCA/WWDJ/WOR FM/99X generation. Top 40 from my youth. I wish I had lived in an area where we could have heard WWRL and WNJR well. I've always wondered what happened to Steel Colony (a blonde white guy who did mornings on NJR in the early 70's)? I met him years ago on a visit to NJR at their original facilities off the Garden State Parkway and being a radio nut I made sure that the first station my daughter who's now 20, heard when we left the hospital was WNJR. I wanted her to start off on the right foot. Even though I didn't listen to those stations growing up, I did listen to Johnathan Joe Crane on WBNX in the 70's and all the great late night gospel shows on WADO. Back to the subject at hand I did forget to mention Simon & Garfunkle, another 60's act which can't be overlooked.
