As for Gary Lewis, he was more a studio creation than anything else. His voice was greatly augmented by the use of Ron Dante (also the "voice" of the Archies and Cuff-Links) and the "Playboys" were actually the infamous LA session guys known as the "Wrecking Crew" who also replaced many other groups in the studio. It as a while before I realized that about a half dozen of my favorite 60's drummers were, in fact, Hal Blaine.
