I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Unchained Melody"...it was hit by 4 different artists in 1955:

Les Baxter & His Orchestra...top 10
Al Hibbler...top 10
Roy Hamilton...top 10
June Valli...top 40, never heard this version

And I'll give honorable mention to the Righteous Brothers, 1965 and Vito & the Salutations, 1963.
