Just came from seeing Brian Wilson (the one who practically WROTE and PRODUCED just about EVERY Beach Boys record out!) at Asser Levy Seaside Park in Coney Island....concert was ONLY an hour-and-a-half. Highlights for me:
1) "Do It Again" - I smiled from ear to ear when Brian did this - WHO KNEW that when Brian wrote this all those years ago that it would end up being used as the "opening theme" to CBS-FM's July 12, 2007 REBIRTH - a MORE APPROPRIATE song I could not think of!! Bravo!!
2) "I Get Around" - as good in 2008 as it was 45 YEARS AGO when it was FIRST RELEASED!! So was Brian!!
3) "California Girls" - me and the couple next to me was singing the chorus EVERY time it came up - David Lee Roth has got NOTHING on the real "boys of Summer" (David recorded "California Girls" on his hit 80's album "Crazy from the Heat", which is actually not that bad - check it out!)
And for my one diversion into radio for a second (ok, Mike? :-) ), SUCH a pleasure to see "The Don of New York", Don K. Reed, as well - a reminder of "CBSFM Yesterday, 101 Today" (this part ESPECIALLY for those of us who REMEMBER and those of us who will NEVER FORGET!)
