The discussion on this message board last week about favorite albus reminded me of the fact that some great albums did not have singles released until a much later date.
Chicago Transit Authority is a case in point. When this album debuted in 1969, the first single released "Questions 67 & 68" went nowhere on the charts. It wasn't until Chicago's next LP produced the hit "Make me smile" in 1970 that they started having hit singles from the CTA LP; "Does Anybody really Know What time it is" was released in late 1970, "Beginnings" was released as a single in the summer of '71 and "Q 67 & 68" backed with "I'm a Man" was released in the fall of '71.
The Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" on the Days of Future Passed LP came out in late 1967 but "Nights..." was not a single until August of '72. Thanks to Alison Steele, this song remained actively on the air in those intervening years.
I believe the Beatles did not release a single from Sgt. Peppers until about 1977.
Any other singles released off an LP long after the fact?
