Frank, I don't really think that my meagre contribution here is a 'final' album, but 'Poco 8' is probably the best windup/goodbye LP I ever heard. The guys obviously had had enough of their ABC record contracts. Riichie Furay was gone, and Tim Schmidt was soon to join the Eagles.
The LP was done without the departed Richie Furay, their goblet-cracking tenor who'd gone on to the SHF Band, yet there were at least four undeniable AoR cuts from that Poco album when it was released and when AoR was quite ripe -- at a time when Country-AoR was still a huge vehicle. 'Makin Love' was the ace cut from the LP. Crank it and chew a weed. Schmidt sounds eerily like Furay.
