I was listening to Gary Usher and the Super Stocks’ “Surf Route 101” album from 1964.
Great instrumentals and a few Beach Boys-styled vocals. In any event, the group sings “Muscle Beach Party” from the movie of the same name. Pretty funny song that was written by Gary Usher, Roger Christian and Brian Wilson. It sounds so similar in many ways to the Beach Boys’ “Car Crazy Cutie,” written by Brian Wilson and Roger Christian, and “Pamela Jean,” written by Brian for his short-lived group that included him and his friends as the Survivors.
