In my opinion,
I love oldies from mid 50's through and including the 70's.
I have a very large collection of oldie 45 rpm singles.
I started collecting these singles by looking at the national weekly charts and purshase EVERY song that peaked to at least to #25, and some even charting lower. (example #25-#40)
Let me tell you that I have listened to many great hidden hits that peaked ranging from #15 - #40. Songs that almost never gets played on terrestrial radio and seldom gets played on satelite radio. Many people have told me that they never heard these songs before.
It is so refreshing to hear these hits.
To me, it's like hearing new/old music from the original artist(s).
I have recorded these hits (one after another) on tapes or cd's and play it through.
As a suggestion, radio stations should start to play these great tunes, or at least filter them in your play list. This will decrease the repetiveness of playing the same top 10 hits.
By doing this, oldie stations would not have to worry too much about increasing the range of their music through the 80's and 90's.
They would have much more oldie music by playing these hidden hits from the 50's - 70's
