Here's what may be some surprising information...

"Coney Island Baby" only got to #51 on Billboard's charts and #63 on the Cashbox charts.

And on WABC's charts??? Nada, nothing, zero...invisible.

And on the WMCA charts??? Zippo, zilch, nowhere.

That's right, neither song charted on EITHER New York station.

"Coney Island Baby" is a typical example of what was called a "turntable hit", one that got play when it was out but never clicked on the charts.

The question in this case was WHO even played it. WMGM was gone by then, which only left WINS. Perhaps Murray the K played it alot, because it got NO play elsewhere.

It's also an example of a song that was much bigger in the years way AFTER its' release than when it was out.
