Does sound a lot like Bonham, though.
Donovan had a few quirky styles and tempos to work off (even if these were somewhat footprinted by his vocals .... 'Barabajagal' and 'First There Is A Mountain' are faves here :-). Lots of tempos and approaches resurface in subsequent pop songs at unlikely times after long periods of dormancy. So the more styles you have, the better the chances that one or another will catch on with a different generation.
But I doubt that would exlain it, either. Maybe it's a TV spot soundtrack somewhere?
