Turnpike/Motorway rest areas, both here and in England, often have compacts discs on offer (possibly of dubious origin) that I never see elswhere.
In May of 2000 I picked up such a disc: a copy of "Donovan: Live In Concert" for seven bucks at the Vince Lombardi rest area on the NJ Turnpike.
It was an excellent recording, but, unfortunately, not much info was provided in the packaging.
So here's why I bought this up:
During "Hurdy Gurdy Man," Donovan speaks to the audience about how he came to write the song while "in India with four Beatles, one Beach Boy and Mia Farrow."
Donovan proceeded to say that George Harrison had written a verse for the song, but that he (Donovan) never recorded it.
Then he sang George's verse:
"When the truth is buried deep
Beneath a thousand years of sleep,
Time demands a turn-around
And, once again, the truth is found."
