Dion & the Belmonts (Angelo D'leo, Carlo Mastrangelo, and Fred Milano) had begun recording together in 1957, though as separate entities whereas the Belmonts provided vocal back-up on Dion's second release, "We Went Away". It wasn't until 1958 that they became a solidified Group with "I Wonder Why".
Upon breaking up in 1960, the same four original members would briefly re-unite in 1968, despite the Belmonts having changed members during the interim. They would again re-unite in 1972 for a Richard Nader Madison Square Garden performance, and at least once more since then.
