Hi Folks!
45 years ago today (August 30th, 1963), the show that brought rock and roll into Mom and Dad's living room, American Bandstand aired its last weekday show.
From its primier on August 5th, 1957 on ABC to 8/30/63, AB was seen, at varying lengths, every afternoon (usually between 3 and 5 pm).
TV.Com does list the last guest on the that last Friday afternoon. Does anyone here know who was on? And did Dick Clark and crew acknowledge that starting a week from tomorrow, they would be a Saturday only program?
It wasn't long after the end of the weekday run (which starting in early 1963 was taped on the Saturday prior to the week of shows) that DC moved the program to Hollywood.
I kind of got the impression with Dick Clark that he liked to keep things smooth and flowing and not rocking any boats (except the rock and roll boat!) so I would bet he didn't mention (except maybe in a quick passing) either the last weekday show, or the last show in Philly.
Anyone got more info? Email me, huh? My pc still ain't a webster:>(
Anyhow, miss you guys.
Joe (In leg chains at the library public pc....oh, the gooey keyboard!).
