OK boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, dudes and dudesses and dudettes...Vote for any of these bottom 100 songs and I promise you new prosperity, lower taxes and liberty and justice for all!

Oops, sorry! Too much convention-watching for me!

But anyway, here are this week's BOTTOM 100, the first for September, the songs that were at the bottom of the barrell this very day in years past, the #100 songs on this day in history...

1961 - Footstompin' Pt 1 - The Flares (In its first of 15 weeks on the chart on its way to #25)

1963 - A Love So Fine - The Chiffons (A great, rarely heard song that only peaked at #40. It was in its first week on the chart and was their third chart song in a row with the word "fine" in the title.)

1964 - Rockin' Robin - The Rivieras (The last chart song for the group that did "California Sun". Betcha didn't even KNOW they covered this oldie!)

1966 - It Was a Very Good Year - Della Reese (Della does Frank! Whaddya know!)

1968 - Lady Madonna - Fats Domino (In its first of two weeks on the survey, both at #100)

1970 - Fire and Rain - Johnny Rivers and Friends (In its first week and peaking at #94, I tried but could not find out who the "Friends" listed here are.)

1972 - Evil Ways - Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles (A remake of his own hit, it peaked at #84.)

1974 - Travelin' Prayer - Billy Joel (Only peaking at #77 in four weeks, this would be Billy's LOWEST charting song until 16 years later.)

1977 - Ma Baker - Boney M (In its final week on the chart after only 3 weeks and peaking at #94)

1978 - Still the Same - Bob Seger (Hanging in there for one more week after 18 weeks on the chart)

1979 - Hot Stuff - Donna Summer (In its last week on the chart after 21 weeks!)

OK gang, from brand new to hanging in there, these are the #100 songs on this date in history.

Now it's up to you to pick your choice for Bob to play.

Mike
