It's curious that Lee Hazlewood went to such lengths to disguise the conflict between his writer credit and his deejay spins.
At the same time, Alan Freed was openly listed as writer on many songs he didn't even write, but spun on the air anyway.
It was three years before the payola scandal. Maybe Hazlewood knew something or maybe he just wanted to confuse the IRS?
In any case, to my ears, the echo on "The Fool" might be the best use of that technique in an era of echo. So nice!
