We know how enduring certain classic rock groups are as evidenced by the fact that Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Beatles albums still sell. In fact each of these artists have several of the biggest selling albums of all time and much of the sales occurred many years after their release.

I don't think there is any artist more enduring than Jimi Hendrix as evidenced by the the Rich Appell post of most played songs from 1967 on current radio. Jimi Hendrix has 4 SONGS IN THE TOP 10! and a few others further down the chart. Fact is at the time, Jimi Hendrix NEVER had a hit single, I think one of his songs entered the latter half of the top 40. I know WABC never played Hendrix.

In T-shirt stores, I see plenty of shirts with Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Doors and Bob Marley but few others from the '60's. I know many teens who love Hendrix and chronogically speaking, this would be the equivalent of me loving Rudy Vallee or Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians when I was a teen. Can you imagine that?

When Jimi Hendrix was inducted into the R & R hall of fame, I think he may have been the first who never really had a hit single, but I heard no one complain that he was not qualifed.

One other piece of evidence is the fact that no less than three of Hendrix' songs have been used in TV commercials in recent years.
