Hi gang! OK, let's hold our breaths and get ready and get ready to dive to the very depths of the top 100 chart, as we once
again visit the privliged...or is it UNprivliged songs that held the #100 spot on this very night in chart history in the
60's and 70;s.
Ok, so let's see what we have...
1960 - The Machine - Dante & the Evergreens (The guys who did "Alley Oop" are back with their first week on the chart and
their ONLY other chart song, eventually peaking at #73).
1962 - Your Heart Belongs to Me - The Supremes (Yes, THOSE Supremes. TWO YEARS before they hit it big, this was their very
first chart song. It was in its' very last week on the chart, after peaking at #95.)
1963 - Your Boyfriend's Back - Bobby Comstock and the Counts (Guess what song THIS was the answer to? The following week it
crept to #98, and then disappeared forever!)
1969 - Kool and the Gang - Kool and the Gang (From the Department of Redundancy Department, and following in the footsteps of
Bo Diddley by Bo Diddley, here's the group's first chart song, a self-titled tune in its first of twelve weeks. It peaked at
#59.)
1975 - Footstompin' Music - Hamilton Bohannon (Stevie Wonder's drummer from the mid-60s checks in with his only chart song,
In its first week of two.)
1977 - Da Doo Ron Ron - Shaun Cassidy (In its last of 19 weeks, this is one of the LEAST played songs that peaked at #1, and
also one of only a handful that made both the very top, and the very bottom, of the top 100!)
1978 - Stay/Load Out - Jackson Browne (In its last week on the chart)
1979 - Is She Really Going Out with Him - Joe Jackson (From the new music/punk era, here's a great song that was in its last
week on the chart after peaking at #21.)
Some great choices, gang.
Time to voice your choice!
