This Board is better than the morning papers. Just some thoughts ...

.... Interesting contrast vis-a-vis Morrow's and Bob Shannon's reactions through all this. Though both were visible/vocal the past two years, their public views were somewhat antithetical. It might be interesting to hear from a former DJ perhaps in between both those extremes. Ingram, maybe? Dolenz? ....

.... Where is the writer, Kinosian, from originally? ....

.... I haven't been up this early for a while. First station : KYW. Voices in the morning -- good ones -- and a terrific teamwork. They covered the Lexington Avenue steam explosion well. In fact, it was their top story. Point is, old habits don't go away. Personalities in the morning get your A out of B. So why not personalities the rest of the day? .....

.... Morrow: '...today’s average listener is very sophisticated. We still sell this audience too short...'
Boomers have been media babies all their lives. Sales researchers and marketers seem to know all about 30-40 (probably the most besieged demo in history as a result), yet have difficulty tapping in to the older demos, who unwittingly were among the first, plus have more years of marketing results and theories on file ......

.... Bias, I know, but I feel Morrow came across as anything *but* a deep thinker out of the radio speakers. His plug for his new book suggests otherwise; that he took all that maudlin stuff seriously.

.... Chad Brown would've 'loved' to do the current format when he was GM. He didn't do the format. He's no longer GM. WOGL started the format well before. Who or what was stopping him, and if was Hollander, why bother having a GM in the first place if you won't appreciate the GM's advice? The way Brown speaks, Mason would have. Someone here is fibbing ....

.... That (literal) bottom line of 2.2 AND WLTW's 5.7 stand to go up with the PPMs. It'd be real interesting to see what could become a real #1-#2 race for some time ....

....
