Wait a minute....let's see what the ratings and revenue are once the new format gets some traction. Boards like this make it easy to think "everyone" is listening and talking about it, but that remains to be seen.

Besides, a tweak of the existing format would not have had the same impact as this return has. Think about it: Most of what was happening with CBS-FM was negative. Systematically, the big names were all disappearing. No Harry in the morning, no Ingram on the weekends, no Dan Daniel in middays. The specialty shows were vanishing, too. The playlist was tightened and much of the unique flavor of CBS-FM was lost.

Now it's been reborn and there's great enthusiasm, even though there still aren't live DJs around the clock. What if CBS-FM had continued and still existed with a limited personality lineup? It would be perceived as another negative and another sign that CBS-FM just wasn't what it used to be.

As painful as the absence may have been, it's freshened up the brand and created a buzz that wouldn't have existed otherwise. Let's see now if that translates into ratings and ad revenue.
