"Abergavenny" never made it to WABC, but I first heard it on 66 WNBC, on the Joe O'Brien show in August 1969.

Joe was the former WMCA Good Guy morning man, whose sidekick was 'Benny'.

Joe was on at the same time as WABC's Herb Oscar Anderson during the sixties.

Two giants in broadcasting whose shows competed with each other.

"Who should I wake up listening to today?" was the morning question as I got ready for school.

Joe preceded Imus on WNBC.

I haven't heard "Abergavenny" played on the radio since...September 1969, just as the New York Mets were making their move toward the National League pennant and world championship!

It went hand and hand with "Easy to Be Hard" by Three Dog Night and Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'".

Thanks for playing it!

Having a ball listening to the 'Radio Greats' on The Breeze.

What a great week in metro radio!
