What about Michelle Visage? She was Joe Causi's partner on WNEW before the flip to "Fresh" and especially with the '70s and '80s being played on 101.1. If she's available, it would make sense to at least find out if she can do the format, which she probably would.
That doesn't change my opinion on Max Kinkel in particular, however, as you do need some links to the past (which Max is a big one), plus you can't ignore that Max brought in phenominal numbers in the overnight as I recall when he was there from 1983-'95.
