There are a number of artists in the R & R Hall of Fame I would not play in the current format with perhaps limited exceptions, however, I don't think you can ignore Madonna, simply because she has become by far the most successful female artist in Rock 'n Roll history and is probably the biggest artist of both the '80s and the last 25 years.
The latter two are in my opinion too big numbers to be ignored, especially when you're trying to pull in younger listeners with '80s hits, as Madonna was probably the single biggest artist of at least the last two-thirds of, if not the entire decade.
