I stand corrected on the number of #1 songs (I forgot Mariah Carey had more of them), but you can't forget how much of an influence Madonna has been on pop culture over the last quarter century, and the fine tuning she has done over the course of her career that she continues to do.
As far as thinking Madonna should be the only person to go in next year (when she is virtual lock to in her first year of eligibility), when Elvis, Chuck Berry and The Beatles didn't go in alone, that has a lot to do with the fact when they were inducted, there were many, many artists from the '50s and '60s that would have been eligible earlier had the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame existed prior to 1986. Since most of the older artists who were eligible then are now in, I think Madonna, only the most successful female artist of them all should have the priviledge of going in alone, something if the Hall had existed prior to 1986 we would have seen from some of the other legends.
