I still don't see why. I think it implies that she's greater than any other member of the Hall--I don't even think she's more important than Run-DMC, who are also eligible for the first time next year. (She's a lot more successful than Run-DMC...but Run-DMC changed music more than she did.)
Moreover, there aere artists still waiting to get in--The Hollies, The Dave Clark 5, Tommy James, Wynonie Harris, Genesis, The Clovers. Maybe they'll never get in, but if they don't, I'd hate for it to be because merely putting Madonna into the Hall the normal way wasn't good enough.
