Some thoughts on what could be done with the weekends:

Saturdays, starting at 6:00 PM:

Knowing from 6:00-10:00 PM (because of Saturday Night Oldies on WABC) the demos likely skew younger than at any other time during the week on CBS-FM, I would be using that time to do a show specifically aimed at those who grew up on mainly '80s music (especially the early heyday of Z-100).

This would start with a "Top 20 '80s Countdown" from 6:00-8:00 PM and follow with two hours focused heavily on '80s hits (and some early '90s as well), including songs not normally in CBS-FM's rotation otherwise.

The other would be follow immediately afterwards from 10:00 PM-4:00 AM Sunday morning and would be a New York version of Bob Pantano's long-running Saturday Night Dance Party here in Philly on WOGL (which has been going since February 1977 and is as much a legendary show here as Cousin Brucie has been on Saturday nights in New York), broadcast live from a remote location (usually the same one) every Saturday.

Either of these shows on Saturday nights I think would be a great fit for Joe Causi.

If there is another hour to fill from 4:00-5:00 AM, I would fill that hour with "Music for Lovers Only", since at that hour on Sunday morning most people listening to music would be looking for more mellow stuff.

On Sundays:

I like the idea of having "Accoustic Sunrise" start from 6:00-7:00 AM if there is an hour to fill there since people who are listening then are looking for less jarring music on a Sunday morning as well.

I would follow that from 7:00-10:00 AM with a simulcast of Ron Kade's long-running "Elvis & Friends" show from WOGL-FM here. That show would placate a lot of fans of Elvis, who continues to transcend his era and now has a third generation of fans.

Later in the day I would have from 4:00-6:00 or 5:00-7:00 PM "The Sunday Top 20 Countdown", which would be usually between 1963-'79 (since the Saturday version would almost always be an '80s year). If it were up to me, that would be followed by the return of two shows that would throw fans of '50s and early '60s music a major bone (especially since that time on Sundays generally skews older listeners anyway since that never has traditionally been a big time for those younger to be listening to radio) in Norm N. Nite's "Heart of Rock 'n Roll" from 6:00-9:00 or 7:00-10:00 PM and Don K. Reed's "Doo Wop Shoppe" from 9:00 PM-Midnight or 10:00 PM-1:00 AM. Those shows would make fans of the earlier music quite happy and doing so out of the way of when CBS-FM should be really going after younger listeners.
