To know it is one thing. My kids know, or at least recognize, many older songs from movies, TV shows and ads, as well as from hearing me listen to them over the years. To like the songs and to want to hear them is another thing. Would your kids, my kids, or other kids or young adults care to listen to these songs on a regular basis? Probably no more so than you or I would like to listen to Hot 97 all day. However, that doesn't mean I don't know many of the Hip-Hop songs and Rap songs that my kids listen to. I know them from hearing them listening to it. But I wouldn't care to listen to it on my own.
There will always be exceptions to every rule, but most kids and young adults will not be listening to CBS-FM, the same way that most adults over 35 will not be tuning in to Hot 97.
