After the "break-in" period, if they DO add 50's to the playlists, only doing the best knowns will get tired fast. Best knowns along with a sprinkling of deeper cuts that are also upbeat fun songs would be a better distinction - and maybe a quick behind-the-hits comment to add interest.
As Alan seems to be suggesting, after a substantial amount of advertisers are on board, and the listener base is further along maybe it will be easier to test what some have seen that younger people will enjoy the sound & energy in these tunes.
The DJ's probably can work a smart way of doing this that works.
Its the slow ballady drawn out songs that would be very difficult to ever include in a daily playlist - especially the esoteric accapella tunes. These can be interesting musically, but are a better fit for a hardcore specialty show. As good as the Doo Wop Shop was with Don K Reed - I thought the percentage of slow songs was a bit high even on THAT show.
