I know Allan had eluded to this before, but heres my additional 2 cents.
What made WMCA different from almost any radio station then and now was the DJ "team" spirit. I've said this before, even in WABC's heyday, you felt like each jock was doing their own show, with few exceptions. WMCA had a warmth not heard anywhere.
It's refreshing in so many ways. I like the idea that even though each DJ competes for ratings, they can talk about each other in a positive light. Makes for great listening. Makes it like the old WMCA, like the station was your best friend. The station sounds cohesive. Like a family. Like your best buddies.
This seems to be the CBS-FM trend and it's nothing but good.
Now, how about the jocks singing off-key songs and giving out CBS-FM smiley-face T's and sweatshirts!!
CBS-FM, if you're taking a cue from one of the greatest top-40 stations ever, you're right on track. Every personality station today could use a little WMCA thrown-in. Especially these days.
