Mr. G seems to be somewhat oblivious of the format clock and tends to go long with his schtick when he shouldn't. It is my understanding that this is what particularly bothered Harry about Mr. G when he was bantering away without regard to time which caused the program to fall further behind than it already was.
No doubt Dan feels the same pressure that Harry felt when Mr. G's schtick went "long".
