Bob, Thanks for playing the Monotones' "Who wrote the Book of Love." This was a surprise as the few pre-64 tunes played have been mostly guitar driven rock--Chuck Berry, Elvis, Buddy Holly, etc. The Monotones represent New York based (Newark, NJ) r & b vocal harmony groups; call it doo wop if you like. While Elvis and the other early rockers are important and fitting for this format, as we are in New York it is important we include sounds and music styles created in New York and about New York. Earlier you also played Ben E. King's "Spanish Harlem" another classic from the early years and quintessentially New York. I hope more Brill Building creations by the likes of Goffin-King, Mann-Weil, Barry-Greenwich and Sedaka-Greenfield will be added to enhance the New York sound of the station.
