I was not really a CBS-FM listener before. I listened to alternative mostly, current and past...+ NewsRadio 88. I mean, I put on Dan or Harry once in a great, great while, just to make sure they were still there, or the station itself. Also, it was still on my presets...kinda like 'PLJ was for years (unused) for no particular reason until 2 weeks ago. The only thing that qualified me as a CBS-FM listener before it got Jacked was that I had just begun to start giving it a listen again, and just happened to tune into a small portion of Mickey Dolenz' 100th show on the final day.
That said, I have listened more in the last two weeks than I did in the ten years before June, 2005. I'm old - 46 - (: and what I like about the station now is that the station is FUN. It doesn't particularly matter what era a song is from if it's the RIGHT type of song. And so far, almost every single song has been the "right type". How do I define that? Hearing something from the 80's that sounds like it could have been made in the 60's...or something from the 50's that sounds like it was made decades later. It's hard to define, but even when the station plays a pre-64 (or 50's) selection, IT FITS. And, it's FUN.
And of course, there are the DJs. The station could play this exact music, but without them, I wouldn't listen. I'm learning to appreciate Bob Shannon as never before; always liked Pat St. John; and am taking an instant liking to Broadway Bill Lee. I never heard him on air before the 12th, and only knew the mane from the board. I must admit I dismissed your posts about him before the flip back, Allan. I figured anyone from 'KTU or whatever would not fit in. But you (and he) have proved me wrong.
The whole station sounds fantastic...I'm still giving a listen to Dan Taylor and Joe Causi...tougher times for me to listen. But from what I have heard so far, they did not jump out at me in the same way as the aforementioned three. But I have to hear more to be fair to them.
And that's my 2 (I mean 20) cents.
