I admit I like *one* Michael Bolton song. And naturally, selfishly, I think CBS-FM should play it : 'Ain't Got Nothing If You Ain't Got Love'. More out-of-the-norm : he co-wrote it instead of covering earlier works. And if 'up-tempo' is a crucial factor, this song should fit a few bills.
So might Joe Cocker's 'When The Night Comes'.
My WCBS-FM nightmare is a mild 'What?!?' and actually signalled an all-night listening session at a Long Island production studio ... about six guys and gals. I flipped on a cheesy Radio Shack AM-FM (one of those flat kinds, with a whip antenna that didn't rotate). Terrible frequency determination. I tuned approximately to where WCBS-FM was, and instead we heard Country-Western. Holy Smoke! No Oldies?!?
It was like two years ago when 101.1 switched from Oldies .... The shock must've been similar to the time, in Philly, when happy young people went to sleep to 92.5's Modern Rock and woke up the next morning to Country WXTU for real.
Well, the C&W turned out to be WCMS Norfolk (or is it Portsmouth, Joe P?). We had stumbled onto a wicked 'tropo'. During times of signal ebb, we were literally holding hands at weird angles to act as shields and reflectors and help the measly radio regroup. Best catch that night was CIOO (C-one hundred) from Halifax.
You don't need a sophisticated radio to have nightmares.
