I was on a vacation in Australia back in 1986, and the tour guide mentioned that song, and asked if any of us Americans ever had one. They gave us samples. It wasn't as bad as motor oil... Hazy memory tells me it was a little like hot dog relish.
Australia back then (and may still be) was one of the few places in the world where they actually like Americans!
I brought along a radio-cassette recorder, and captured a few hours of Australian radio airchecks. Since 'scoped, and made into mp3s if anyone would like me to email a few.
