"This isn't his fault, but it is painfully obvious that Jeff Mazzei is voicetracked."
I don't care how good the board ops and engineers are, voice tracking will never sound like a live person in the studio. Another painfully obvious example was Freddie Colon on Mix 1027. Ginny Sanchez did very good board work, but his *voice* sounded like he was in another place at another time, BECAUSE HE WAS. This is the primary reason why I'd never subscribe to satelite radio - too many stations are DJ-less or voice tracked.
This is New York City, for heaven's sake! Not some little fishing village in Alaska (nothing against Alaska). There is a large enough population that's awake during the hours of 12 midnight and 5:00AM to warrant having a live DJ on this station. There are many people who WORK during these hours, and have their "daytime" then. They deserve to hear far better radio than a voice so obviously disconnected from a body.
Right now, CBS FM is on the cutting edge of bringing back personality radio. I hope they will extend that farther by bringing back live personality to overnights.
