Okay, before everyone freaks out, let me explain the logic. The thought of this topic stems from a thread regarding Hot 97 going "out of the box" playing rock music on a lunchtime mix show.
As you all know, the return of CBS-FM as an oldies station now includes 80's music since people in my generation (teenagers/young adults during the 80's) are now part of the oldies equation since the music of that generation is 20+ years old. As such, while 80's music consisted of rock, pop and new wave...rap (what hip-hop was called back then) was beginning to burst into the scene. Artists such as Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, Fat Boys, Run-DMC....just to name a few were the early pioneers.
My question...would any of you have a problem if CBS-FM decided to play "Rappers Delight" or "White Lines". Not saying that they would or they won't. However since that music would technically fall under the "oldies" umbrella...as it is now created with CBS' return, would you all flip out if you've heard a rap tune?
