Agreed, John! I can't imagine CBS-FM in 2007 or 2008 dropping all but 2-3 songs per hour from the 1960s; those 1960s tracks are a big part of what makes CBS-FM stand out from the rest. We can hear the Queen & Steve Miller songs on 104.3 and the Carly Simon & Bee Gees tracks on 106.7, but the only place we can hear the Gibbs, Freddie Mercury, AND the Association is CBS-FM 101.1. (And what an artful mix they make!) The current mix is fresh, upbeat and cross-generational; losing the timeless 1960s songs that Brian Thomas is so painstakingly selecting would lose a lot of the flavor that is making CBS a surprising, unique, reinvigorated station. The current mix, at least at this point in time, ROCKS. Throw in the wonderful Hall of Fame tracks (a reason alone to keep tuning in!) and CBS really is New York Radio for *all*. Just two cents' worth from a loyal listener who's still thrilled each day to hear the new 101.1 being played in more & more businesses and more & more car radios!
