I was actually staying away from dance music when I had this thread in mind. I wouldn't even have SUGGESTED any of the dance genres (outside of disco, which was considered mainstream).

But looking on this thread...WOW! I knew that some buttons were going to be pushed here but NEVER to the extent I've expected.

And reading upon everyone's answer, the only rap (and I purposely stated this thread as "rap" so as not to confuse it with "hip-hop" to which the latter tends to be associated moreso with the "gangsta" element) that I was thinking of regarding this thread was the fun stuff....like "Rappers Delight", "Walk This Way", maybe the "hardest" song being "The Message" by Grandmaster Melle Mel.

And while I wasn't suggesting that CBS should "go there" (just asking opinions on how people would feel if they heard it) based on the answers provided, management wouldn't dare touch it to lose audience. And as Allan said and I agree, based on the polarization of music...if rap doesn't get touched, then the hairbands/metal...which was also hugely popular in the 80's should have no place on CBS-FM as well.
