I use this scenario in the case of Joe McCoy. Joe was a terrific PD at CBS-FM. But as time went on and he was more "restricted" by the suits the station suffered for it. As I look back it appears that Dave Logan was put into a "do or die" situation, under pressure to turn things around. Dave must have had an inkling that any failure could be the demise of CBS-FM as we knew it.
After JACK failed Brian Thomas had the advantage of reviewing the mistakes that were made by McCoy and Logan and "undoing" them. To this point he has done a great job. The test will be over time (perhaps a year or 18 months) after we see the books. But Joe McCoy was a terrific PD. He just fell victim to time like a good baseball manager or football coach.
