1. All of the above. Based on comments elsewhere on this board, it sounds like the programming department is very focused on listener reaction. For the first time, they're listening to this board and similar comments. The station sounds better as a result.
2. There may be some counter-programming, but that's probably not the complete answer. CBS-FM has a tradition of a Saturday Night Dance Party, going back to Brucie, and Jack Spector's Sock Hop before that. Joe Causi is great with a more modern version of the dance party on Saturday nights. They also always wound up the weekend with some form of specialty music show--Norm N. Nite's Night Train, Do-Wop Shop, or Heart of Rock and Roll. This continues that tradition while solving a second problem. The Radio Greats Weekends were cancelled several years ago because too many had died. This allows that traditon to continue on an ongoing basis, without concern of filling up the 36-40 hours.
3. I doubt Ingram would step foot in those studios. The only reason for not giving a definitive answer is that there's been a significant change in management at CBS since he left. Dan might realize the fight is with the old management, not the new group.
That said, I don't think it's Ingram this week. My own bet is Don Imus.
