I'm a new listener, and believe me, if CBS FM was exactly the same, I would not be listening. On purpose.

Based on the promotion of the "*New York* Radio Greats" show, I expected a live DJ, especially because of the statement on the station website:

"A: Not everyone from the past is available. Some of our former personalities are under contract to other radio companies, some are retired and sadly not everyone is in good health to work a full time schedule. Some of the people who are available will be featured on Sundays with a show we’ve dubbed “NY Radio Greats” that will air Sundays from 7:00 – 10:00pm."

This statement implies someone who is still living. I'm sorry that Wolfman Jack is not "in good health," but where is it stated or implied that the deceased are included in this pool of available DJs, and that a dead person's "availability" depends on *tape* availability?

Furthermore, the current DJs kept announcing that the person was *very* big in NY, and *very* big in rock. I did not necessarily expect a former CBS FM DJ - in fact, I thought the choice might have been someone from WNEW FM. Wolfman Jack did have a very big impact on the promotion of rock n roll in general, but big in NY? Never.

IMO, it's a mistake to compare a show recreation such as the one last night with the unscoped airchecks on WABC Rewound. A recreation involves voice tracking, and the airchecks are the original shows, and are promoted as such. And while I'm on the subject of voice tracking, much has been discussed about the necessity of CBS' consistancy in promoting its new branding as a Classic Hits station. It seems to me that "personality radio" is part of the new brand. I understand that CBS is still in the process of hiring on air staff, but I think they sent out a conflicting message by having a voice tracked premier of "NY Radio Greats."

There is a basis in reality for the expectations most of us had, and therefore, a basis in reality for the disapointment that some of us feel.
