>>>This is the most IDIOTIC reason.<<<
I don't agree with eveyone of your opinions, to call mine "idiotic" is a bit harsh don't you think?
>>>Do you object when WABC plays back a Bob Lewis aircheck? How about Churck Leonard? Or Jay Reynolds? Maybe Scott Muni? What do you think, that when someone dies their work should never be heard again?<<<
No! But WABC was a legendary station that once had all these guys on. The Rewound Show does a fine job at honoring the legends. CBS-FM is a totally different station. If CBS-FM prior to the Jack flip did this, I would not have objected. The whole idea of the "New" CBS-FM is to move forward with an updated playlist, add on a few new DJS that were not associated with the prior format (Bill Lee, Joe Causi, Rick Stacy, etc), and attract some new younger listeners. Not to honor a dead DJ that has never had anything to do with CBS-FM other than a 1995 guest apperance. And on top of that Wolfman Jack wasn't even that huge in NY! With all due respect to Wolfman, if he had met this criteria then I could see the sense of CBS-FM resurrecting his airchecks.
>>>Then you "recall" wrong. There was never a reason given but the most widely held belief was it was the same old demos problem. Hearing HOA sing is a little tough on anyone under 60.<<<
This "widely held belief" was published in a David Hinckley column years ago. I don't have the article in front of me, I just have a great memory. I'm not saying the demos weren't an issue, but Mc Coy's reasoning for too many tributes was the published reason for the "...Radio Greats Weekends," demise.
