>>>bit harsh don't you think?<<<

Not in this case because there is no factual basis for it whatsoever.

>>>Not to honor a dead DJ that has never had anything to do with CBS-FM other than a 1995 guest apperance. And on top of that Wolfman Jack wasn't even that huge in NY! With all due respect to Wolfman, if he had met this criteria then I could see the sense of CBS-FM resurrecting his airchecks. <<<

Hold on a second. You're mixing up several reasons.

If you want to make an argument that CBS-FM should not have featured Wolfman because he was not a major player on CBS-FM or that he was not a major player in New York radio, that's fine (even if I don't agree). But him being dead has nothing to do with those criteria.

>>>This "widely held belief" was published in a David Hinckley column years ago.<<<

Not that I saw and since you can't substantiate it, you shouldn't be quoting it as fact.

Keep in mind that Joe McCoy is consulting The Breeze in New Jersey and they just did a Radio Greats Weekend. In fact, he was on the air with HOA, Ron Lundy and others. If it was true that he believed there were not enough legends available for CBS-FM to do such a weekend, do you think he reversed direction 180 degrees years later at "The Breeze"?
