Assuming that CBS intended to go with archival audio, I think they wanted someone with name recognition, not only to the loyal listener, but to the new listener CBS FM wants to grab. Murray the K, for example, is familiar to people over 50, but may not be as familiar to those under 50, and the under 50 demmo is very important to CBS FM. And why play favorites as to who is worthy of being the first CBS FM alumnus to be represented?
