This might be another case of management originating from the west or midwest lumping NY with the rest of the country. We're very different, as are our tastes. Its the same as mostly eliminating the first decade of rock and roll based on below-50 demos in OTHER parts of the country.
Madison Ave. also doesn't realize below-50 listeners in NY would welcome 50's music as opposed to the rest of the country, but Wolfman Jack exciting New Yorkers when he is a "rest of the country" DJ might be another example of WCBS-FM missing the mark of understanding our unique area.
Also, the music played juxtaposed against the image Wolfman Jack creates in your mind was difficult.
Wolfman Jack gives his schpiel and then Flashdance comes on. Ugh.
With his voice you'd expect Peanut by Little Joe and the Thrillers, or Nadine by Chuck Berry.
But no. Again the Wolfman talks, and Rapper's Delight plays, or Michael Sembello sings He's A Maniac.
